There are many reasons to create your own website. Before starting out, you need to carefully consider exactly what you want your website to do for you. Do you want it to be a platform to promote a business? Are you thinking of starting a website just for fun? Think very carefully about your subject and purpose. A lot of vital decisions are going to be made based upon those considerations as you will soon learn.
Your first step for implementing your website is to find the appropriate web host for you. There are many web hosts out there that offer different options. Some companies offer free web hosting but those packages come with advertisements. If you do not want your host's advertisements on your site, then you would want to choose a package that you pay for.
Your other consideration in choosing a web host is the extent of your HTML knowledge. If you are not familiar with HTML, then you would want to pick a host that has easy editing options. These days, it is easy to find packages that require little to no HTML experience. You can also choose to have your site built for you.
After you have chosen a web host, you will need to consider a domain name. It is not necessary to have your own domain name however I highly recommend it. Your domain name is www.yourname.com. The place where "yourname" is will be your domain name. This could be the name of your business or another key factor of what you want your website to promote. This is another decision to consider very carefully. Your domain name helps with your site's recognition factor.
At this point, you should be ready to start adding information to your site. Here are some things to keep in mind:
1)Keywords: these are the words that will attract users and search engines to your site. Your keywords should be words that best describe the theme of your site. You should settle on one keyword and then expand on it by using several words. (example: cook, cook shrimp, secret recipe to cook shrimp) Obviously your keyword "cook" should be somewhere in your title. You will also want to include it in any headlines. Try to make your keywords as unique as possible without being too abstract.
2)Content: try to make your content as original and useful as possible. Search engines love original content. The more original your content is, the better. Don't fill your website with too many ads or too much copied work. Write as much of your own content as you can that includes your keywords. However, don't overdo your keyword to the point of excess.
3)Advertisements: you can place affiliate ads on your site and earn a little money. Google Adsense is a very popular way to go. You can search for affiliate programs that offer a wide range of advertisers. You should pick advertisers that pertain to the subject of your website without giving yourself direct competition. Be careful not to "junk up" your site with too many ads. It is very unappealing and the search engines might penalize your site for it and affect your rankings. A few well placed and subtle ads are the way to go.
Now that you have your website built, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Sorry, it is not that easy! You have only just begun. Now you have to think about search engine optimization and site promotion. Stay tuned for information that will help you with those projects.

| Put Your Stamp On The World Of Affiliate Marketing |

Affiliate Marketing has become a huge trend these days. Why has it become so popular? The promises of making big money fast has lured many people into trying it out for themselves. The fact is, you CAN make money doing affiliate marketing. This article is going to explore the aspect of starting your own home business through an affiliate program.
If you google "start your own home business", you will find hundreds of sites promising big bucks if you join their program. It is very overwhelming when you are just starting your search and are presented with so many "amazing" opportunities. Sorting through all of the choices can be confusing. It is very helpful to decide ahead of time just what type of business you would like to have.
Here is a list of things to consider before making any choices:
How much time can you put into this? Are you trying to turn this into a full time business or just trying to make some extra money on the side? Determine how many hours a week you can allocate to your new business. Then, set some realistic income goals based upon that.
Do you already have your own website to promote your business or are you willing to make one? Having your own website will increase your chances of success. Consider your website your "platform" for advertising your business. However, most affiliate programs provide you with some kind of a "gateway" site which rules out the absolute need of having your own website.
Are you looking for actual products to sell or would you prefer just promoting the program itself? Some programs come with a full line of products for you to promote. This is great if you have a favorite type of item (such as cosmetics, fitness products, ect...) that peaks your personal interests. Some types of programs really just have you promoting the program itself by simply getting others to join your downline.
Are you willing to pay a membership fee or are you only interested in free programs? Many programs immediately require a fee to join that will give you access to their tools and resources. Many others are free to join. I will say though that even when a program is free to join, some kind of "upgrade" is often suggested. Usually with the paid upgrade, the commission percentage is higher.
I have never paid an upfront fee to join an affiliate program. Yet, I have paid to upgrade in a few programs that I thought were worthwhile. That decision paid off for me because I made my money back and then some. The key really is finding an affiliate program that you really like. I have joined many of them but have only stuck with the ones I truly enjoy.
The danger of joining too many affiliate programs is that you will spread your marketing efforts too thin. I have found that two seems to be the magic number for me. That does not mean that I don't have a few miscellaneous advertising projects. I have some of those but I concentrate and put most of my efforts into two affiliate programs. They are SFI and Top Online Profits. They both work great for me and I receive my commission checks each month.
Once you get over your initial considerations and decisions, you are ready to get started. Please keep in mind that you will not get rich overnight. You will not get rich simply by signing up. This will be a job and you should treat it as such. The more effort you put in to this, the higher the payoff will be for the boss, YOU!
